Today after church John and I shared a very exciting surprise with Benjamin. Today was a special "boys day." But even more special because it was only for Benjamin and Daddy, not even Samuel or anyone else could go with them. And to make it even more exciting, they were going to go to the zoo. And to make it even better, they were going to the zoo just to ride the train. Now you must know that every time I take the kids to the zoo Benjamin just about has a heart attack walking across the tracks, and waiting for it to come. He thinks it is about the coolest thing in the world and he has never yet ridden it. Well, today in the car he said about the coolest thing. He immediately freaked and began shaking in a strange, happy, seizure kind of way while still staying in the car seat and attempting to spit out some words. By the time we figured it out, he was saying that this was as exciting as when Jesus comes back to the earth. At first glance it seems that statement might be a bit blasphemous, but after thinking about it I am thrilled that the only thing that he could correspond to his excitement of the train was the return of the Christ. Next time we'll talk about how Jesus is probably a little bit better than the train at the zoo, but until then I am grateful that he is excited at all.
That's awesome and hilarious.
ReplyDeleteSo how was the ride, did it meet his expectations?
No, he got there and it has to be 50 degrees for the train to go, and sadly it was like 48. John said the sadness that came out was very pitiful. Hopefully within the next week, I'll provide an update. :)

I've been hearing so many people around IHOP tell me that I needed to meet John Harrigan and/or were asking if I knew John Harrigan. I got so bugged about it that I had to ask Rabbi Google about John Harrigan.
ReplyDeleteSo I found your blog and lo and behold I HAVE met you a few times before. Here is our family's website: www.mattiandsong.com Maybe you remember meeting my wife and I and our two sons?
But the funny part is that the first blog post I see has a big picture of the KC Zoo train. I was the conductor of that train not too long ago!
When my wife and I moved to KC to be a part of IHOP, we both worked at the zoo for some months - her taking tickets, me driving the train.
Ha. Please pass this on to your husband for me and I will make sure to say HI to him when I see him next.
Blessings

PS - sorry it didn't work out for him to ride on the train.
ReplyDeleteI would have gone ahead and done it!
sweet boy just wanted to ride the train. have you taken that poor child back? he amazes me every time he says something about the Lord. It brings tears to my eyes to think about how the Lord is going to use him!!
ReplyDeletelots of love!
How much fun! You know, "he'll be comin' round the mountain when he comes." Maybe he'll decide the horses weren't enough and choose a train instead.
ReplyDeleteIt's fun to keep up with your little family and thanks John for the teaching!
